- Role of the EKG technician & areas of employment
- Function of the EKG Department
- Introduction to medical terminology
- Basic cardiovascular anatomy & physiology
- Electrical conduction - concepts of cardiac polarization, depolarization & repolarization
- Interpreting cardiac rhythms: normal sinus rhythm, ventricular rhythm, sinus bradycardia, sinus tachycardia, biochemical arrhythmias, pacemaker arrhythmias, myocardial infarction
- Performing 12 lead EKGs - Properties of the electrocardiograph, placement, troubleshooting, interpretation
- Basic EKG analysis
- Diagnostic procedures; Stress testing; Holter monitoring, Event monitoring
- Cardiovascular medications
- Patient care, patient preparation, patient safety, HIPAA
Specifics About the Course:
Classes are divided into two components: Classroom learning /lecture and Lab experience
Classroom learning /lecture - is held 2 nights / week from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM for 8 weeks (total 64 hours).
Lab experience - Students are required to complete hands-on practical training on campus and at a pre-approved clinical setting.
Course Materials - are included.
Tutoring - CMC offers FREE tutoring. Tutoring may be offered one-on-one or in a small group setting.
Exam Preparation - CMC offers FREE CERTIFICATION PREPARATION prior to students taking their certification exams.
Certification Exams are administered on campus for student convenience.
